UKCR 2024, University of Buckingham

UK Creativity Researchers’ Annual Conference, 2024: university of buckingham, 26th June 2024.

In 2024 we took the UK Creativity Researchers’ Annual Conference to the University of Buckingham with the theme of Bridging Worlds: Creativity Research at the Intersection of Psychology and Profession. We kept our fees low atm £60 including catering to be as inclusive as possible and really thought through our approach to improving sustainability. We also trialed something different with Newnotes as Keynotes by having a panel of early career researchers (ECRs) open our conference: Diana Osmolska from University of Manchester, Iyad Sawaftah from Edinburgh Napier, and Beth McManus from University of East London with the theme of Bridging Worlds: Creativity Research at the Intersection of Psychology and Profession. By having Newnotes as Keynotes, here we aimed to reflect our roots as three early career researchers who founded the conference and network in 2017 and echo our continued approach in our previous conferences to create an inclusive and level space for promoting good research and networking. As well as our opening panel of “newnotes”, we also welcomed presentations throughout the day, and in the afternoon we held a Conference Discussion focusing on the topics of Generative-AI and Creativity, and Ethics in Creativity Research.
